A Close Call

Saturday evening Damon, Miya and I went out to dinner at a Mexican resteraunt downtown called the Blue Iguana. The atmosphere was really fun, they had a little old Mexican couple that walked around and sang in Spanish and they had it decorated really colorful and there were candles on all the tables. The food was good too. After we ate we were just waiting for the check and Damon and I were talking, and all of the sudden we noticed our table was a little darker than it had been a few seconds earlier. We looked down to see that Miya had put a napkin in the candle. I freaked out and grabbed the end of the napkin and pulled it out, but it was already in flames. Damon took it from me and started trying to put it out with his hands while pieces of the napkin started to burn and float up in to the air. Luckily, our waiter was bringing back the check just in time to use his hotpad to put out the flaming napkin on our table. A few of the nearby tables had seen the whole thing and were laughing at this point, but I was just in shock and trying to comfort Miya, who I think was in shock because of our reactions to the whole thing. She doesn't understand that we could have just started the whole building on fire. Needless to say, we left the waiter a really nice tip.
