Happy Halloween!

Miya was Ariel this year and Emma was Pupunzel (Rapunzel).

Emma was so excited because she was invited to attend Miya's preschool Halloween party. They had so much fun.
Our little William was a ghost. My sister had gotten this ghost onesie as some random gift, so I inherited it as soon as she found I was having an October baby. BTW- I ditched the hat after this, I don't know why I put it on him in the first place.
We went to Damon's work where the girls really enjoyed trick-or-treating through the haunted offices of Thomas Arts. The had some real fun activities and yummy treats after as well.
On Halloween night we went to Chelsea's and had some yummy soup and pumpkin shaped bread bowls then it was off to do more trick-or-treating. I love that Chels dressed up like her husband, the orkin man. So glad we have cousins to trick-or-treat with.
P.S. I am kind of mad at myself for not taking better pictures of Halloween, but I guess I did just have a baby...I am lucky I even went anywhere. (That makes me feel better and a little justified for the horrible pictures I did take and the many pictures I should have taken and didn't)

William Damon Rasmussen

I am finally getting around to posting a little about William's arrival. I could go into all the labor details but I will give the shortened version and my personal journal has all the juicy details that most people don't want to hear about.
I had small contractions for a couple of days previous but the real hard labor and contractions started Thursday, Oct. 13 at about 4pm. I labored at home for most of it but by 1am on  Friday, Oct. 14 I decided it was time to get to the hospital. We got there at 2am but found that I still hadn't progressed much. BUMMER! But I should have known, my labors with my girls lasted forever and progressed slowly as well. So I walked the halls and tried to stay strong and positive through the contractions. By 5am they checked me again and I had progressed a little but I was still not progressing much and the contractions were coming every 2-3 minutes and really strong. I was getting exhausted after being up all night and I figured this was going to be another long labor like my others. So I decided to take the epideral. My biggest fear was that I would make it all the way and then not have any energy to push and end up with a c-section. So by 6am I got the epideral. Little did I know...he would come 2 hours later and with ONE push. Oh-well....he's here and healthy and it doesn't matter if I went natural or not.

We were so happy to have some of the family come visit at the hospital. And sorry that I forgot to take pictures with some of you. Can I blame it on the fact that I hadn't gotten any sleep?
That's a proud daddy who has a SON!
A very proud big sister, Miya that has been waiting for her baby brother to get here since before we were even pregnant.
And a very proud Emma, who is now a big sister herself.
I can't believe we are a family of FIVE now.
Our sweet, little William...what would we ever do with out him. He has brought such a joy to our family and we are so glad he is here and he is healthy!

Look who's 2!

I feel like a horrible mother. My little girl turned two last month and I am just now getting around to posting about it. We have been so busy this summer and I have so many things to post about but they will have to come a little later. But I couldn't let another day go by without posting on Emma's big day. Her birthday party ended up having a duel theme because when I was ordering party supplies she was really into Little Miss Sunshine books, but when the party actually got closer she was obsessed with Mickey and Minnie. So we did some of both. She loves to sing Happy Birthday to herself and tells about how she went "whoooo" and "blowed out all her sandles."
She is getting so big. It makes me sad. She is talking tons. And says the funniest things. Emma is a daddy's girl for sure. (which makes me a little sad, but kind of works out since #3 is on the way and is going to require lots of mommy's attention). She loves to play outside and in the water. She also LOVES to play with Miya. They are the best of friends (and on some days...the worst of enemies). She also loves to sing songs. I love being blessed with such a sweet spirit in my home. I am so grateful for her and wish I could just pause life right where it is at! I don't know what we would do without our little Emma girl.

In case you haven't heard...

We are expecting baby #3! We are so excited for him to join our family! That's right, I said HIM!! We are having a BOY! It is a new experience for us and I won't lie, I am a little nervous about having a boy. But I am sure with a daddy and three mothers we will be able to figure out what to do with a boy. Miya is super excited to begin helping and teaching him all his letters and numbers. And Emma, well, she thinks she has a "baby bwudda" in her tummy too....it's pretty funny. Here are some pictures from our ultrasound appt.

A Day for Memories

Every year for as long as I can remember we go on a little road trip to Park City and Heber City and all over the valley to "visit the graves." It is has been so fun for us to go with grandmas, aunts, uncles, cousins, siblings and anyone else that decides to come. Over the years there have been many memories of good times singing and dancing in the backseat, playing at the old Snow King (which is no longer there), eating fish'n'chips or a big hamburger, chasing squirrels or "pot guts" and putting flowers on the graves.
One of my favorite things about Memorial Day has been riding in the car with Grandma Yates and listening to stories about the people whose graves we go to visit. Grandma passed away a year and a half ago. Her absence at Memorial Day has been a hard adjustment but I feel her smiling down upon us as we placed flowers on her grave this year. I love the knowledge I have of eternal families. I am grateful that death is not the end. I love picturing the family in Heaven watching us as we visit the place where their physical bodies rest. It is a day to remember and honor our ancestors. I enjoy a good BBQ as well, but I hope to pass on to my children the real reason we celebrate Memorial Day as my mom and Grandma have done for me.
It is nice that Grandpa finally has Grandma resting beside her after waiting almost 50 years.

The next generation.

Our new lunch spot has been the Dairy Keen in Heber since the old stop no longer exists. The kids really get into the trains all over the place and they even got these fun (and very loud) train whistles in their kids meals. This year we even got to use the amazing new Coke machines with about 100 drinks to choose from.

The little kids always enjoy these graves because they were all children when they died. We love to do smaller flower arrangements for them. It is so sad, but makes me grateful for modern technology, you don't hear of children dying from nose bleeds these days.

Sugar Eggs

We had so much fun this year decorating sugar eggs with cousins. Chelsea and her cute kids came over and we all made some beautiful sugar eggs to bring in the Easter holiday. Emma still gets excited every time she sees hers she has to say, "sugar egg, see, Emma's!"

We're going green!*

Happy St. Patrick's Day! We woke up to green milk for breakfast (I am not sure who did that, maybe the leprechauns...) Then Miya went to preschool where they had a fun St. Patty's Party. For lunch we had GREEN TUNA FISH sandwiches, complete with GREEN lettuce, and GREEN pickles. And this is what we had for dinner...curry chicken served over GREEN rice. For dessert we had some GREEN jello. It was a very GREEN day.

*As far as the title of this post...we try to do our part to help the planet, reduce, reuse, recycle. But I am not sure if you would call us "green." We may be tomorrow after all we ate today. ;)
